BREAK NEW GROUND
STOP DIGGING REPLACES
CONCRETE FOUNDATIONS
The Swedish company Stop Digging has developed the ground screw, an innovative method of ground anchoring without the need for cumbersome concrete foundations. We install the ground screw in the ground, for both larger construction projects and simpler projects throughout the country. With us as a partner, it’s quick and easy to get started.
We have ground screws in several different models and dimensions that are selected according to the purpose, ground conditions and load requirements. These ground screws then create a stable foundation for your project. In addition, there is a wide range of attachments for special installation, for example for flagpoles or construction site fences. All attachments and brackets have been measured according to Swedish construction standards.
Our ground screws are made of hot-dip galvanised steel and are specially developed and adapted to our Northern climate. They are CE certified according to EN 1090-1: 2009 and our production facilities are ISO certified. All screws are thoroughly tested to meet load, pressure and tension bearing requirements. Stop Digging AB is certified according to ISO 9001: 2015, which means that installations by our authorised partners are also ISO-certified.
VERSATILE FUNCTIONALITY
TAILORED SOLUTIONS
FOR EVERY OCCASION
Whether it is for a small task at home or a large business project, Stop Digging’s ground screws can work for you. We have a wide range of experience in delivering many different projects for both private and public clients. This includes not only simple parking signs and farm fences, but also ranges from small dwellings and decks to larger undertakings such as underpinning the extension of a historic cob and stone house.
Stop Digging’s ground screws are also ideal for temporary structures as they can easily be unscrewed and reused without damaging the ground, for example for fences at sporting events and festivals or for barriers and work units on construction sites.
We offer several different models and sizes such as the adapter, pipe, pillar and beam screw, all designed to tackle tricky terrain and soils. Our customers have used ground screws for lockups, storage rooms, bicycle sheds, recycling stations, sound dampening panels and traffic signs. The question isn’t when can you use a ground screw, but when can’t you?
THIS IS HOW WE LAY THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR BUILDING
1
DRAW THE GROUND SCREWS ON THE PLANS
By using our ground screws, you can optimise the construction work so that it goes as quickly as possible. The screws work on all types of surfaces and are available in different varieties. Contact Stop Digging for a customised quote and to book one of our authorised installers.
2
SCREW INSTALLATION
The ground screws are installed quickly with the help of our specially developed machine, which has extremely high torque. Our technology can handle all types of soil – compact clay is not a problem, and smaller rocks can be moved or broken down. If we encounter large stones or rocks, we can either move the location of the screw or put a stud in the stone.
3
QUICK RESULTS, REGARDLESS OF THE SOIL OR SEASON
The screws are installed quickly, even when the ground is covered by frost. Construction can start immediately after installation, as there’s no waiting for concrete to harden. This means that the customer’s requirements can be met quickly, and your company has time to take on other jobs.
4
A SMART AND SUSTAINABLE CHOICE
Ground screws save you time and effort, but also mean that you can offer an alternative that reduces the environmental impact for your customers. Ground screws release on average 60 per cent less carbon dioxide than concrete foundations. Ground screws are the sustainable choice and have an expected lifespan of at least 100 years*.
*Stop Digging stipulates an estimated minimum lifetime for its ground screws. The amount reflects the number of years an installed screw is expected to fullfil its technical purpose under normal conditions, and is based on many years of experience and research.
“I only have positive things to say.”

SKANSKA CHOOSES
STOP DIGGING
WHEN SKANSKA DECIDED TO BUILD A NEW RESIDENCE IN HELSINGBORG, THEY WENT WITH THE INSTALLATION OF GROUND SCREWS FOR NOISE BARRIERS AT GUSTAVSLUND.
“We will definitely do it again. Ground screws are a great solution. The starting time for installing them is short and the overall cost is good value,” says purchasing manager Patrik Samevall.
Previously, Skanska didn’t think that ground screws would be right for their projects, but now the company has changed its mind.
ENVIRONMENT & SUSTAINABILITY
GROUND SCREWS HELP REDUCE OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
Today, concrete production accounts for a large proportion of the construction industry’s climate impact. When you choose a ground screw, you are doing the planet a favour, as the production of our ground screws emits 60 percent less carbon dioxide on average than the production of concrete foundations.
Quality is also sustainable. Our company and installation process is certified according to ISO 9001. The thickness and surface coating of our ground screws are specially developed and adapted to our Northern climate. They are hot-dip galvanised according to ISA 1461, produced and CE certified according to EN 1090-1: 2009 and our production facilities are ISO certified. and our production process is certified according to ISO 9001. All our ground screws are thoroughly tested to meet load, pressure and tension bearing requirements. The screws have an expected lifespan of at least 100 years*.
Our ground screws are BASTA-registered and have been rated “Recommended” by the Building Supply Assessment (Byggvarubedömningen).

ADVANTAGES OF USING THE SCREWS
STOP DIGGING DOES THE GROUNDWORK QUICKLY AND COST-EFFECTIVELY
When you choose ground screws, you avoid the tiring and time-consuming job of digging and casting concrete, and you can forget about concrete hardening times for good. The whole assembly installation only takes a few minutes per screw and you can immediately start using them. You save time and money, and your customers will be pleased with your speedy delivery.
Our ground screws can be installed in most soil types, all year round. So there is no reason to postpone any basic work, as we install screws even in frosty conditions. Our authorised installers have experience of anchoring in everything from rocky ground to sandy soil.
The ground screws are environmentally friendly in every way – in addition to being climate-friendly, the installation is gentle on the surrounding ground surface. This reduces the need for removal of large volumes of soil and then restoration of the area. The screws are an excellent foundation for temporary buildings and installations as they leave minimal traces when removed. We can also install ground screws in tight spaces or in places where excavation is not suitable or impossible.

FAQ – COMMON QUESTIONS
Ground screws – how, where and when?
We have the answers.
Each construction project has unique conditions and requirements, but our ground screws are versatile and make it possible to stably anchor projects large and small. If you don’t find the answer to your question here, don’t hesitate to contact us.
01 Ground screws - why?
Ground screws from Stop Digging provide stable ground anchorage that saves both time and money. Ground screws or earth screws make your construction project easier: you don’t need to carry heavy concrete support posts or mix concrete, or spend a lot of time and effort digging and then restoring the surrounding ground. If you cast concrete, then you also have to wait for it to harden. The ground screws can be mounted all year round, even in frost, and work in most soils. The screws are installed quickly, and you can use the foundations immediately.
Stop Digging’s ground screws should not be confused for the type of ground screw or anchor sold at DIY stores. Stop Digging’s innovative ground screws are always delivered with complete installation by our certified installers.
02 Stop Digging's customers
We carry out work for both private individuals and companies, and all our fitters are certified. We have, among other things, delivered foundations to NCC, Skanska, Peab, Riksbyggen and several municipalities around Sweden.
03 Ground screws - when?
Ground screws can be used as a foundation in both private and public projects. A foundation using earth screws is suitable for patios, park benches, rubbish bins, signs, fences, noise barriers, screens for rubbish bins, recycling storage sheds, bicycle storage and much more. We have smart solutions and lots of ways to work with specific projects. If you have a project we have the ground screws for it!
04 Ground screws - how deep?
How deep the ground screws need to be anchored depends on the load and the prevailing ground conditions. Our screws come in lengths from 580mm to 2500mm, to be able to create stable foundations in most soil types and construction projects. We help you choose the right screw for each project and location.
05 Ground screws - how long?
The length of ground screw you need varies depending on the soil condition, load and of course what type of project it is. We have four different types of screw – adapter, pipe, pillar and beam screw. These come in various lengths and dimensions to be able to meet all your requirements. As well as this, our ground screws have a number of specially designed attachments for different types of specific installations, such as flagpoles. All our earth screws are made for our Nordic climate with dimensions adapted to Swedish construction standards.
06 Ground screws on rocky ground?
We always pre-drill a test hole before installing the ground screws. Smaller rocks are pushed away by the pre-drilling, medium-sized rocks get broken down. We have different solutions depending on the situation that arises. Our authorised fitters receive thorough training and have vast experience of solving problems.
If there are rocks where you are going to build, there is a good chance that our installers can drill holes in the rock and anchor with a steel stud or steel post bracket. If your building, for example a wooden deck, is partly over a rock, we investigate the solution on-site, and make decisions on a case by case basis. In newly excavated soil, we need to take extra account of any subsidence in order to be able to perform a good and stable installation of ground screws, by choosing a longer screw, for example.
Our ground screws work excellently even on steep slopes where you might want to anchor, for example, a staircase, build a terrace or install play equipment. Stop Digging’s screws are available in different lengths and together with our attachments, including plates and L-support, we can perform many types of special installation.
07 Ground screws during a frost?
We can install ground screws all year round. Our earth screws are specially developed to withstand harsh conditions and the Northern climate. Do you want to find out more? We are happy to help you with more information and reference projects.
08 Ground screws - strength?
Our ground screws are made of ISO 630 FE 360 steel and the wall thickness and surface coating are specially developed and adapted to the Northern climate. All our earth screws are hot-dip galvanised according to ISO 1461. All products are CE certified and manufactured in accordance with EN 1090-1: 2009. Our production facilities are also ISO certified in accordance with ISA 9001. Our screws have an expected lifespan of at least 100 years*.
*Stop Digging stipulates an estimated minimum lifetime for its ground screws. The amount reflects the number of years an installed screw is expected to fullfil its technical purpose under normal conditions, and is based on many years of experience and research.
09 Ground screws - subsidence?
In the same way as concrete foundation posts, the ground screw can also be affected by subsidence in the ground, but our steel ground screws are generally not affected by frost. In newly excavated soil, we need to pay special attention to this in order to be able to perform a good and stable installation of ground screws, for example, by choosing a longer screw.
10 Ground screw loads
All our earth screws are thoroughly tested to meet load, pressure and tension bearing requirements. Read more about our screws here. These values are the result of a number of tests in different soil types and can be affected by different soil conditions. To ensure local values, we can perform a tensile test.
11 GROUND SCREW CERTIFICATIONS
Our steel earth screws are specially developed, and the thickness and surface coating has been adapted to the Northern climate. All our earth screws are hot-dip galvanised according to ISO 1461. They are CE certified and our production facilities are ISO certified in accordance with ISO 9001.
12 Ground screws - cost?
We offer a fixed price according to a quote. However, our prices vary depending on which ground screw you need to use and where in the country you are. All projects have unique requirements, and the price will reflect this. Contact Stop Digging for a free quote.
